Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Exceptional App Studios ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Whirl mobile application ("Whirl" or the "App") on iOS and Android. We built Whirl to help you make decisions with a spinning wheel. We do not require an account, and most of your data stays on your device.
1. Summary
- Wheel names, options, and app preferences are stored locally on your device.
- We do not operate our own servers to collect or store your wheel content.
- We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used (see below).
- If you use free features, Google AdMob may show ads and process data as described below.
- If you purchase Premium, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process payment and entitlement data.
2. Information stored on your device
Whirl stores the following information locally using on-device storage (Hive):
- Wheels you create or edit, including wheel names, option labels, and favorites.
- App settings, such as theme, sound, haptics, spin duration, and confetti preferences.
- Premium status cache, so the App can remember whether Premium is active.
- Usage counters used only inside the App, such as spin counts and paywall display flags.
- Temporary reward unlocks, such as time-limited theme previews or premium sound access.
- Recent wheels for quick access within the App.
This information is not uploaded to Exceptional App Studios. It remains on your phone or tablet unless you delete it (for example, by deleting wheels in the App) or uninstall the App.
3. Information you may choose to send us
If you tap Send feedback in Settings, your email app may open with a pre-filled message that can include your app version, device model, and operating system version. We only receive this information if you choose to send the email. We use it solely to respond to your message and improve the App.
4. Purchases and Premium
Whirl offers an optional one-time Premium purchase that removes ads and unlocks premium features. Purchases are processed by the platform store on your device:
- Apple App Store on iOS
- Google Play on Android
We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and restore Premium access across reinstalls on the same store account. RevenueCat may receive identifiers such as an anonymous app user ID, purchase history related to Whirl, and basic device or app metadata needed to manage entitlements. We do not receive your full payment card details; those are handled by Apple or Google.

5. Advertising
If you have not purchased Premium, Whirl may display ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect or receive information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device type, and ad interaction data to show and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where permitted by your device settings and applicable law.
Purchasing Premium removes ads served by Whirl through AdMob. You can also limit ad personalization in your device settings (for example, "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android).

6. Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how Whirl is used and to improve the App. Firebase may collect information such as:
- App interactions (for example, spins completed, wheels created, paywall views, and purchase attempts)
- Device and app metadata (for example, app version, device model, operating system, and general location derived from IP address)
- An analytics identifier assigned by Firebase
We do not use Firebase Analytics to upload your wheel names, option labels, or other wheel content. Analytics events are limited to usage patterns needed to improve Whirl.

7. Other third-party services
- Google Fonts: The App may download fonts from Google servers to display typography. Google may log standard request data such as IP address. See Google Fonts privacy information.
- Share sheet: If you share Whirl with others, the share action is handled by your device's operating system. We do not receive the contents of what you share.
8. What we do not collect
Whirl does not:
- Require you to create an account with Exceptional App Studios
- Collect your name, email, or contact details unless you email us
- Upload your wheel content to our servers
- Sell your personal information
9. How we use information
We use information only to:
- Provide core App functionality (creating, spinning, and saving wheels)
- Remember your preferences and Premium status
- Process and restore in-app purchases
- Show ads to free users and offer an ad-free Premium experience
- Measure App usage and improve features through Firebase Analytics
- Respond to support or feedback emails you send us
- Comply with legal obligations
10. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains there until you change or delete it in the App, clear app data in your device settings, or uninstall Whirl. Purchase records retained by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat are governed by their respective retention policies.
If you contact us by email, we keep correspondence only as long as needed to address your request and maintain reasonable business records.
11. Children's privacy
Whirl is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information. Because most Whirl data stays on your device, you can delete much of it directly in the App or by uninstalling.
You may also:
- Purchase Premium to remove ads
- Restore purchases from Settings or the Premium screen
- Adjust ad tracking or personalization in your device settings

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. We will honor applicable legal requests after verifying your identity where required.
13. International users
Third-party providers such as Google and RevenueCat may process data in countries other than where you live. Those transfers are subject to the safeguards described in their privacy policies.
14. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information within our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's operating system security features.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Continued use of Whirl after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
